JADA PINKETT SMITH WONDERS IF PEOPLE OF COLOUR SHOULD BOYCOTT THE OSCARS

Actress Jada Pinkett Smith, wife of Will Smith has spoken out on twitter about the snob given to People of Colour on their artistic accomplishments at this years Oscar nominations.
As the nominations for Oscars for 2016 were read out, to the dismay of all no single person of colour was nominated for any of acting awards in 2016 Academy Awards which generated the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite on twitter.

There was also no single film that centred on a Person of Colour protagonist nominated for Best Picture.

Films such as 'Straight Outta Compton', 'Beast of No Nation' 'Concussion' amongst others which were highly aclaimed films that stayed on top of the charts didnot get any nomination for Best Director or Best Actor, roles played by people of colour.

Jada Pinkett Smith took to twitter to ask if it was right to continue to attend the Oscars when they use peope of colour to present, host and entertain at the Oscars yet they snob the artistic accomplishment of people of colour. She opined that people treat you how you allow them to.

"But we are rarely recognised for our artistic accomplishments. Should people of color refrain from participating all together?"

"People can only treat us in the way in which we allow. With much respect in the midst of deep disappointment"

The irony of 2016 Academy Awards is that its being hosted by Chris Rock, a person of colour.
