After Lionel Ritchie left Commodores in 1982 the group's members kept changing, and even if the band is still active, Grammy winning Nightshift in 1985 is their last major hit (US #3, UK #3). The song was written and dedicated to Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson who died the year before.
